The Minister of Production, Sergio González, stated today that the Peruvian industrial sector is expected to grow 4.7% this year, considering that Peru's economic consolidation will occur in 2025.

"Industrial growth in 2025, driven by primary and non-primary manufacturing, is projected at 4.7%, a significant and important growth, achievements that are now being seen," he stated.

Sergio González maintained that 2024 was the year of economic recovery and 2025 is the year of Peru's economic consolidation.

“It's necessary to take into account the industries that have grown steadily over the past 12 months, because it's not just a one- or three-month growth; it's a constant 12-month growth,” he emphasized.

“We have one of the most prodigious and richest seas in the world. The fishing sector grew 129%; in 2024, we had two significant fishing seasons that generated more than $2.5 billion in exports,” he added.

The minister highlighted that the diverse industries sector registered a 56.9% growth thanks to the Ministry of Production's commitment to the approval of environmental impact studies.

“We have approved 300 environmental impact studies for an approximate value of 52 billion soles, which project not only growth now, but also for our future generations,” he said.

“The textile sector has also grown significantly, by more than 10%, due to tax relief measures issued by the government in favor of this industry,” he added.

Green hydrogen

Sergio González reiterated that the government is promoting the new green hydrogen industry with a megaproject involving an investment of $11.2 billion.

“This project will be developed in Arequipa, in the district of Quilca, Camaná province, and in the district of Majes, Caylloma province. We are talking about 12,000 hectares, which will be built at a private investment cost of $11.2 billion. This is significantly higher than previous major projects, such as the Las Bambas (Apurímac) or Quellaveco (Moquegua) mining projects,” he said.

"This project will boost approximately 100,000 jobs and is scheduled to run from 2026 to 2031. This lays a solid foundation for our country's industrial growth and development," he stated.
