Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism Rogers Valencia stated today that flights are fully booked for the dates of Pope Leo XIV’s visit to Peru, scheduled for November 11–16, 2026.
“Flights are fully booked, and the tourism infrastructure is prepared to welcome foreign visitors arriving in Peru for the visit of Pope Leo XIV,” he told the Andina news agency.
In this regard, he noted that the country’s tourism capacity is ready to accommodate visitors in each of the cities the Pope will visit: Lima, Cusco, Chiclayo, and Pucallpa.
“Hotel capacity in Lima and Cusco is very good; in the case of Pucallpa, it is somewhat more limited, but efforts are currently underway to utilize private homes to accommodate visitors,” Rogers Valencia indicated.
“A major advantage in Pucallpa is that the vast majority of those planning to attend have acquaintances, friends, or family members there. The same applies to Chiclayo,” he added.
Following his participation in the ceremony awarding the "Marca Perú" (Peru Brand) certification to Editora Perú (publisher of the official gazette El Peruano and the Andina news agency), the minister reiterated that more than 3 million people are expected to travel, attend, and participate in the various activities surrounding the arrival of Pope Leo XIV in Peru.

"The number of travelers will be close to 800,000—including approximately 50,000 foreigners—heading to the four destinations: Cusco, Lima, Chiclayo, and Pucallpa," he explained.
Minister Valencia noted that, as of now, all activities scheduled for Pope Leo XIV’s visit to Peru remain in place.
"At this moment, there have been no cancellations [of Pope Leo XIV’s scheduled activities]; we have all joined together in prayer, and yesterday, President Keiko Fujimori attended a mass for the health of the Supreme Pontiff. We hope that the planned itinerary will be carried out as scheduled," he stated.
