12:01 | Lima, Nov. 17.

Economy and Finance Minister Denisse Miralles stated that the debate on the 2026 Public Budget at parliamentary sessions is essential to ensure a financial plan that addresses the country's priorities.

"It is especially essential in the areas of security, health, education, social protection, and connectivity, and it allows for continued strengthening of public service delivery across Peru," she pointed out.

Likewise, the government official indicated that the Executive Branch's budget proposal incorporates criteria of fiscal responsibility, spending discipline, and effective decentralization.

In that regard, the Cabinet member indicated that more than 60% of the decentralizable budget will be implemented by regional and local governments from the first day of the fiscal year.

It will reduce dependence on transfers throughout the year and allow for greater predictability in territorial management.

Public investment

During her presentation before the Commission, the Minister emphasized that the project prioritizes the continuity of public investment.

She noted that 77% of the allocated resources are directed to ongoing public works across the three levels of government, aiming to avoid stoppages and ensure the timely completion of projects.

The proposal includes funding for strategic initiatives under the 2025–2030 National Infrastructure Plan, Public–Private Partnerships, Works for Taxes, and Government-to-Government agreements.

Furthermore, the necessary resources are secured to ensure the sustainability of current salary commitments in the education, health, interior, and defense sectors.

The Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) reaffirmed its commitment to a transparent and responsible budgetary process.

It is also aimed at ensuring fiscal stability, economic growth, and the efficient execution of investments for the benefit of all Peruvians.
