Peruvian state-run TV Peru producer Veronica Flores, who heads a team of 40 people, among technicians and reporters, said that this will be the first HDTV broadcast from the Inca citadel of Machu Picchu.

For the only Peruvian outlet that will air live both shows today, this is their second HDTV broadcast from a province of the country. The first one was the festival of marinera dance in Trujillo, in January.

More than three and a half tons of equipment has been taken from Lima to the Imperial city for such important event.

"The challenge has been to transport all the equipments to the sanctuary of Machu Picchu, taking care of the architectural heritage," said Flores.

TV Peru will also cover all the parallel events that are to take place in the Imperial city on the occasion of 100th anniversary celebrations of the scientific discovery of Machu Picchu to the world.
