Peruvian actor Mario Valencia, known as “Cristo Cholo,” re-enacted Jesus Christ's crucifixion and last day on earth as part of Good Friday services in Peru's capital city, Lima.
The artist walked through the streets of Rimac district and downtown Lima, visiting seven churches to remember the seven times Jesus fell on the Way of the Cross.
The so-called Cristo Cholo was given several lashes while performing the scourging scene in front of Sanctuary of Saint Rose of Lima. After that, he was forced to carry his 90kg cross.
Flanked by locals, Valencia made stops at Nazarenas Monastery, San Marcelo Church, La Merced Church, Lima's Cathedral before reaching Paseo de Aguas Boulevard in Rimac district, where his journey came to an end.
