The Lima Municipality’s Parks Service (Serpar) will throw a Carnival Party this Sunday with the presentation of traditional artistic performances.

Starting at 3 p.m. local time, the initiative is the perfect opportunity for locals and tourists to see Arequipa, Cajamarca, Ayacucho, Cusco and Apurímac traditional carnival dances.

Performances will take place at Huiracocha, Huascar and Capac Yupanqui clubs located in San Juan de Lurigancho, Villa el Salvador and El Rimac districts.

Attendees will enjoy other traditional genres ranging from Festejo to la Morenada. Dances such as Wifala de Caylloma (Arequipa), Umsha, Tarkada de Candarave (Tacna), and Son de los Diablos will be part of the program as well.

In addition to traditional music, the Carnival Party will feature live cumbia, salsa and bachata music for the entertainment of every attendee.

Peruvian Carnival is a public celebration that takes place in February in different parts of the country. This festivity links religious and pagan traditions of Andean and Colonial origin.
