Lima 2019: Some brief facts about rhythmic gymnastics

The rhythmic gymnastics at the Lima 2019 Pan American Games will take place at the Villa El Salvador Sports Center on August 2-5.

Here are some brief facts and figures about the sport:

1987 - The year rhythmic gymnastics made its first appearance at the Pan American Games, in Indianapolis, USA.
46 - The total number of competitors at the Lima 2019 Pan American Games.
16 - The minimum age of gymnasts (before the end of 2019).
8 - Gymnasts who can qualify for apparatus finals (maximum of two per country).
8 - Sets of medals to be awarded at Lima 2019.
5 - Maximum number of gymnasts competing in a group.
4 - The number of apparatus in the individual competition: ball, clubs, hoop and ribbon.
2 - Groups will compete in two different exercises: one with five balls, the other one with three hoops and two clubs.
1 - Routine performed by gymnasts with each apparatus.
0 - Men competing in rhythmic gymnastics.

About Lima 2019

The Lima 2019 Pan American Games gather 6,680 athletes from 41 countries and delegations of the Americas. The continental event opened last week at the National Stadium located in the Peruvian capital. It will run thru August 11.

Some of the main venues are VIDENA, Villa Maria del Triunfo Sports Center, Callao Regional Sports Village, Villa El Salvador Sports Center, Punta Rocas, among others.

The Lima 2019 Pan American Games include 39 sports and 61 disciplines, in which athletes compete for gold, silver, and bronze medals.

The Parapan American Games will gather 1,890 Para athletes from 33 countries, who will participate in 17 Para sports and 18 disciplines. 

Competitions will take place from August 23 to September 1, 2019. Additionally, 13 sports will be qualifiers for Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games.
