Lima 2019: Peru beat El Salvador in beach volleyball debut match

The Peruvian beach volleyball team debuted with victory at the Lima 2019 Pan American Games. The female duo —composed of Lisbeth Allcca and Alexandra Mendoza— beat El Salvador 2 in Pool D's first game.

The match took place at the Costa Verde stadium. The Peruvian duo defeated the Central Americans (21-10; 21-10).

During the entire game, Lisbeth Allcca and Alexandra Mendoza received the support from fans, who met at the venue to cheer them up on the first day of competitions.

In this first match, the national duo showed strength in each play and now hopes to maintain the same level when playing against Paraguay this Thursday.

Beach volleyball will be played from July 24 to 30 with the 32 best duos from the continent at two courts located in San Miguel district. The competition system contemplates a preliminary round (round robin format in four series of four teams each), qualifying rounds, quarterfinals, semifinals, and finals.

The 2019 Pan American Games will last until August 11. 6,680 athletes from 41 countries in the Americas will compete in 39 sports, 61 disciplines. A total of 21 competitions will be qualifiers for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
