Israel's Embassy: Peru has become an agro-export powerhouse

09:00 | Lima, Oct. 13.

Peru has also become an agro-export powerhouse, with products such as blueberries and grapes enjoying an outstanding presence in international markets, Israeli Ambassador Gali Dagan stated.

"Peru has extraordinary agriculture, with a diversity of climates and products, along with rich biodiversity. In addition, its agriculture is increasingly connected to international markets," Dagan told Andina News Agency.

The diplomat noted that Israel and Peru have exchanged knowledge and expertise for many years in areas such as irrigation, water resource management, and crop improvement, among others.

"Peru has something equally important: enormous agricultural capacity, businesspeople, innovators, and producers with extensive experience and knowledge of their land," he underscored.

Technology

The ambassador remarked that agriculture was one of the first areas of Israeli innovation in the 1980s.

"When Israel became a technology-driven economy, it did not leave agriculture behind. Agriculture also became technology," he stressed.

The envoy noted that Israel has an agricultural innovation ecosystem in which farmers, technology companies, universities, research centers, and investors from the agricultural and production sectors work together.

"This ecosystem allows an idea developed in agriculture to reach the field, be tested by farmers, and become a solution," he said.

Dagan stated that Israeli agriculture today combines farmers' knowledge and expertise with new technologies, scientific research, and tools that enable more efficient use of resources.

Business mission

To strengthen the competitiveness of Peru's agro-export sector and foster greater resource-use efficiency, a delegation of Israeli technology companies will visit the South American country for the second time to showcase the latest innovations in precision agriculture, smart irrigation, and crop protection.

This event, jointly organized by the Israel Trade Mission, the Israeli Embassy in Peru, and the Israel Export Institute, with the support of the Association of Agricultural Producers Guilds of Peru (Agap), aims to foster strategic partnerships between local businesspeople and leaders in Israel's agricultural technology (AgTech) ecosystem.

During the meetings, Israeli companies Biotization, CropX, Rivulis, Treetescope, Bermad, Phytech, Netafim, GAT Fert, Omerna, and Bio will share advanced technological solutions for critical areas of agriculture.
