Inca Garcilaso de la Vega, a chronicler and writer born in the Spanish Viceroyalty of Peru, is honored in Madrid as part of an initiative to mark the 400th anniversary of his death, the Peruvian Embassy in Spain informed.

A few days ago, the diplomatic mission issued a release announcing the details of two commemorative activities.

The initiative includes an exhibition entitled “Inca Garcilaso and Origin of the Mestizo Culture in America” and the conference “The World, the Devil and the Flesh at Inca Garcilaso Library” by Peruvian historian and writer Fernando Iwasaki.

Both acts were due to take place today at Casa de America at 19:00 hours (local time).

Entrance was going to be free until seating capacity has been reached.
