IMF: Peru economy to expand 3.9% in 2019

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has revised upwards Peru's economic growth projection for 2019 from 3.8% to 3.9%, it was announced on Tuesday.

In this sense, the Inca country's expansion rate will be the second-highest in South America after Bolivia's (4%). 

They will be followed by the economies of Paraguay (3.5%), Colombia (3.5%), Chile (3.4%), Brazil (2.1%), Uruguay (1.9%), Ecuador (-0.5%), Argentina (-1.2%), and Venezuela (-25%). 

Within this framework, Peru will post the highest growth rate this year among the Pacific Alliance members —Colombia (3.5%), Chile (3.4%), and Mexico (1.6%).

According to IMF's World Economic Outlook, Peru's and Paraguay's GDPs will increase 4% each in 2020

In South America, they will be followed by the GDP rates of Bolivia (3.9%), Colombia (3.6%), Chile (3.2%), Uruguay (3%), Brazil (2.5%), Argentina (2.2%), Ecuador (0.2%), and Venezuela (-10%). 

Days ago, Prime Minister Salvador del Solar projected Peruvian economy will expand over 4% in 2019.

As is known, national GDP rose 2.5% in 2017 and 4% in 2018
