IMF maintains Peru's 2018 GDP growth at 3.7%

00:00 | Lima, Jul. 24.

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) kept its 2018 GDP growth forecasts for Colombia (2.7%) and Peru (3.7%) unchanged, said IMF Western Hemisphere Director Alejandro Werner.

As per Mexico, the IMF maintains —for now— its 2018 projection for growth at 2.3% but said its outlook remains marred by uncertainties over trade relations with the U.S. if negotiations to revamp the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) are not successfully concluded.

According to the fund —despite the uncertain scenario— Mexican economy should advance in 2018 supported by the United States' strong economic growth. However, it cut —by 0.3%— its 2019 forecast from 3% to 2.7%.

Out of the seven countries assessed by the IMF this Monday, the projections for Colombia (2.7%) and Peru (3.7%) remain unchanged for this year.
