With the intention of contributing to economic recovery and promoting the internationalization of Peruvian SMEs, the Commission for the Promotion of Peru for Export and Tourism (PromPeru) held the first edition of the Gamarra Export Route, a planned capacity-building effort for entrepreneurs from the emporium.

"The purpose is to prepare them to showcase the best of their exportable supply to more than 200 buyers from the global fashion industry, who will attend Peru Moda Deco 2023, coming from the regions of Latin America, America, Europe, and Asia," PromPeru's Export Promotion Director Ricardo Limo del Castillo said.

In the first stage, the promoting entity conducted extensive fieldwork by visiting galleries in the Gamarra Commercial Emporium, where companies with export potential were identified. These companies were diagnosed and assessed by PromPeru specialists, resulting in 20 of them being enrolled in the program.

During this training program, emporium representatives have been able to expand their knowledge in business management, product development, quality management, market access regulations, digital marketing, finance, social responsibility, negotiations and various topics related to international trade; all essential for their participation in business events.

"There has been a very important bilateral commitment, from PromPeru to our development and from us to implement changes and improvements. It hasn't been easy, but now we have the results, there is a before and after," commented Luz Cahuascano, a representative of Napoli, a program participant, during the program's closing.

The results of this labor will be showcased in the 25th edition of Peru Moda Deco, where participants will present a wide range of options, including cotton, denim, and other fabric clothing for adults, babies and children. Additionally, they will have the opportunity to participate in business meetings with foreign buyers.

"This is a strategic step for the expansion of the Peruvian clothing industry. The goal is to continue generating business opportunities for Peruvian SMEs through joint efforts between production chains, entrepreneurs, and representatives from the public and private sectors," Limo del Castillo added.

Peru Moda Deco represents a unique opportunity to attract new customers and establish a firm presence in the international market. In a time when the country faces current challenges, this event becomes a key platform for expansion. Expectations are high for the companies benefiting from this project.
