10:30 | Chiclayo (Lambayeque region), May. 27.

A northern Tondero in the voice of singer Sonia Valderrama pays tribute to Pope Leo XIV and his pastoral life in northern Peru.

Valderrama is accompanied by talented musicians including Carlos Condor, Mariano Liy, and Gigio Parodi.

"De Chiclayo al Vaticano" (From Chiclayo to the Vatican) was composed by Coco Llaque, songwriter, decimista (traditional verse composer), music producer, and cultural manager.

The song musically honors Pope Leo XIV, who, with his warm greeting to Chiclayo on the day of his election, has placed our country and the northern Peruvian city on the international stage.

Since the election of Robert Prevost as the new pope, national and international media have arrived in the "Ciudad de la Amistad" (City of Friendship), which will soon launch a religious tourism initiative developed throughout Lambayeque region.

Tondero in Peru is a traditional musical genre and dance originating from the northern coastal regions, especially Piura and Lambayeque.
