Peruvian schoolgirl Luana Párraga Velásquez was selected by the Huarmis Space 2025 program to travel to the United States and visit NASA's Kennedy Space Center and Walt Disney World.
The Huarmis Space program shared photos on social media of the emotional moment when the schoolgirl received the news alongside her classmates, family, and school officials.
"She has been officially notified to live this transformative experience, proudly representing Callao, a port of dreams and opportunities. From Callao to space, Luana reminds us that when opportunities are built, the future takes off," reads the Facebook post.

A total of four girls and four boys have been selected to travel to the United States at the end of February 2026 to explore the world of aeronautical and aerospace engineering, as well as visit Walt Disney World in Orlando, where they will learn about careers in sound and software engineering.
The program received more than 1,900 applications from all 26 regions of Peru. The selected participants previously took part in a three-month virtual preparation program. Classes were held on Thursdays from 7 pm to 9 pm and Saturdays from 9 am to 12 pm.
Those selected for the trip will receive a letter confirming their eligibility for the passport application process. Visa processing and payment for the international trip, thanks to the support of the United States Embassy in Peru.
It also includes round-trip airfare Lima-United States-Lima, Huarmis Space program uniforms, and lodging and meals in Orlando, Florida.
In July of this year, the student also distinguished herself by achieving 1st place in the Essay category of the José María Arguedas Contest, and represented Callao in the national competition.
"Congratulations, Luana! All of Ventanilla celebrates your triumph. Let's go with pride to the national stage!" reads the Facebook post where her teachers shared the great news.
Huarmis Space is a program that promotes collaborative leadership, a global vision, and meritocracy, while enhancing your STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) skills.
The national coordinator of the program, Magdalena Chamorro, was present at the announcement, along with Alexander Uriarte, representing the president and founder of Huarmis Space, Liz Quispe.
