In a conservative scenario, Peruvian exports would exceed US$64 billion by the end of 2023, Foreign Trade and Tourism Minister Luis Fernando Helguero has projected.

"As a goal for 2023, this sector estimates that total exports would exceed US$64 billion in a conservative scenario," he said during the presentation of the 2022 Export Results, organized by Peru's Exports and Tourism Promotion Board (PromPeru).

This figure would imply a growth of more than 1.28% in Peruvian shipments to the world, since they totaled US$63.193 billion last year, according to information from the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur).

The Cabinet member forecast that non-mining energy shipments would exceed US$25 billion during the current year.

"These achievements will be possible thanks to the efforts by all regions in the country, including exporting micro-, small-, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), added to the plans and actions that we have been and will continue implementing from the Government in favor of the exporting community," Minister Helguero emphasized.

The outlook is auspicious for foreign trade in particular, for exporters who have contributed so much to the decentralized development of this country and the progress of Peruvians, even more so in a context of post-pandemic recovery, he said.

The minister commented that the 2022 export results are the outcome of national policies, programs, and tools designed by the Foreign Trade sector.

They contribute to the inclusive, decentralized, and sustainable development of exports.

In addition, companies have been making the most of the commercial agreements network and the support of trade offices abroad in order to be present in international markets, he noted.
