Speaking from New York City,
on Tuesday said that foreign businesspeople highlight Peru's economic and commercial performance.
"I think these are elements for investors to say: there is noise there, but entrepreneurship, the government's vocation, and the adequate conditions of our mega-diversity prevail to reaffirm the path of economic reactivation and democratic stability," he added.
The Head of State is joined by Ministers Cesar Landa (Foreign Affairs), Kurt Burneo (Economy-Finance), Roberto Sanchez (Foreign Trade-Tourism), and Rosendo Serna (Education).
Minister Sanchez highlighted the meeting that Peru's Head of State and some State ministers held with investors and representatives of companies grouped in the
Americas Society/Council of the Americas.
"The meeting held yesterday with the Americas Society/Council of the Americas is important, with more than 35 high-ranking American businesspeople, many of whom are already making significant investments in Peru," Sanchez affirmed.
"Thanks to this participation, we have been able to dialogue and put on the agenda the great need to promote investments in Peru. Besides, a commitment has been made to hold this meeting again during the course of the year in Lima," he added.
The Cabinet member commented that, since there is great concern worldwide about the rise in food and fuel prices, as a result of the international crisis, President Castillo reaffirmed —in said meeting— the Government's vocation to strengthen legal and macroeconomic stability in Peru.
"President Pedro Castillo has come with a speech that promotes investment and open arms, mentioning the benefits that Peru offers, because reactivation is essential for our country," he pointed out.
"Our vocation is due to the great need for political stability as a favorable environment for the country's economic reactivation," he said.
Tourism
Minister Sanchez also highlighted the favorable results achieved by the tourism sector in Peru.
"Concerning tourism, more than 1.3 million foreign tourists have been registered, of whom nearly 300,000 are from the United States, and that is very important. In addition, last year we (Peru) exceeded US$16 billion in bilateral trade with the United States; and as of July this year it increased 49%," he specified.
"Then, as in tourism, agro-exports and services (sectors), we do not only require a sectoral view, but a country view by involving different ministries," he concluded.
