18:58 | Lima, Oct. 6.

Foreign Affairs Minister Oscar Maurtua on Wednesday participated at the Meeting of the Council of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) at Ministerial Level, where he highlighted the efforts made by Peru to combat the COVID-19 pandemic.

In addition, he reiterated the country's willingness to become a full member of this organization.

According to Maurtua, Peru is focused on five priority areas: health, education, poverty alleviation, economic recovery, and reduction of violence against women.

All this —he said— to achieve an inclusive, strong, and resilient recovery after the crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, which threatens the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for (Sustainable) Development.

"Our goal is to promote equal opportunities, through the implementation of public policies aimed at vulnerable groups such as the elderly and women," the minister commented during the segment "Building an Inclusive Future: Opportunities for all."

He also reaffirmed Peru's firm determination to become a full member of the OECD and underlined the country's commitment to the design and implementation of public policies to create the highest standards in education and gender equality, health, employment and integrity, improving conditions and the quality of life of all citizens, mainly of the most vulnerable.

The Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) is an international organization that works to build better policies for better lives.
