After an uncertain start to the year —due to internal and external factors— the Peruvian economy is already showing the first signs of recovery, which allows us to expect a better end of the year.
2023 is a year of big challenges, which Peru has been facing. Social conflicts, climate events, and the international situation affected the performance of the economy, which had to deal with the ravages of the recent COVID-19 pandemic, too.
"We have a strong economy, despite the shocks, since savings have recovered at a difficult time, due to what happened in the first half," he added.
During the presentation of the Multiannual Macroeconomic Framework (MMM) 2024-2027, Contreras underscored that key economic indicators, such as inflation, will continue to slow down.
"This was essential to achieve the positive impact the monetary boost had, and to deal with the recovery of the strong record of low and stable inflation that the country has exhibited to date," he commented.
The Cabinet member stated that an economic recovery process has begun since July, according to a report published in the
Economika supplement of
El Peruano Official Gazette.
"We have observed that the improvement in indicators is being maintained in August, and we hope this trend will continue in the following months. That is our big challenge for the fourth quarter," he said.
