United Nations’ Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) Director-General Jose Graziano lauded the Inca country for having reduced hunger significantly in a short period of time at the global World Food Day ceremony.

This year's theme was "Our actions are our future: a Zero Hunger world by 2030 is possible."

According to Graziano, the example set by Peru, Brazil, and China demonstrates that Zero Hunger is possible if there is political will and financial support.

He was joined by FAO Goodwill Ambassadors for Nutrition King Letsie III of Lesotho and Queen Letizia of Spain, World Food Programme (WFP) Executive Director David Beasley, and International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) President Gilbert F. Houngbo, among other important figures.
