Holding the Pacific Alliance Pro-Tempore Presidency, Peru will carry out a series of activities with the purpose of strengthening this bloc, especially in its economic-commercial aspect and relationship with Asia-Pacific region countries, Foreign Affairs Minister Ana Cecilia Gervasi announced on Wednesday.

The diplomat deemed the country's assumption of this position as good news, recalling that Peru was one of the founders of said regional integration organization —also made up of Chile, Colombia, and Mexico.

Similarly, the Cabinet member indicated that our country will hold said Pro-Tempore Presidency until March 2024.

The high-ranking official indicated that President Dina Boluarte will provide further information on these priorities and programs in the coming days, during a special ceremony to which the press will be invited.

"So, once again, the news is that Peru is back in the international arena and the Pacific Alliance, too," Minister Gervasi expressed during a press conference held after the Council of Ministers session on Wednesday.

Thus, the stage in which the aforementioned bloc lacked a Pro-Tempore Presidency has passed.

As is known, Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador had refused to hand over said position to Peru, alleging political reasons.
