“To have arrived here with my music—with the music of Peru, with memories of Peru—has left me feeling deeply moved,” said Eva Ayllón, reflecting on her experience at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) in Newark, United States.

The “Living Legend of Peruvian Music” presented an exceptional serenade in honor of the "Día de la Canción Criolla", featuring Daniela Darcourt as a special guest.

The audience’s response turned the evening’s emotions into a shared joy. Eva recalled the voices of the attendees joining in on the songs and the intensity with which they experienced every track.

For her, such a warm reception also serves as a tribute to the tradition she carries with her.

“It felt just like the first time I stepped into Carnegie Hall. That is how I want our Peruvian music to continue: shining on grand stages and earning the respect and love of everyone,” she said.

Prudential Hall—the cultural complex’s main auditorium, which seats over 2,800 and boasts exceptional acoustics—left a profound impression on Eva.

Beyond the venue’s grandeur, she highlighted the professionalism of the staff and the meticulous attention paid to every detail of the performance.

“I felt I was in a place where there is a great deal of respect,” she noted.

Daniela: Strength and new energy

“Andar andar” and “Cuando llora mi guitarra” opened a repertoire that included tributes to Carmencita Lara and Lucha Reyes. One of the most moving moments came with “Fina estampa,” by Chabuca Granda: Eva Ayllón began the song *a cappella*, and was soon joined by the voice of Daniela Darcourt.

The power and richness of both voices brought a special intensity to the performance, which was gradually joined by the accompanying musicians. Daniela’s arrival sparked what Eva described as “total commotion.” The rapport between the two was palpable on stage, and Eva highlighted her guest by saying, “I love the flavor we’re bringing to my show—and, above all, the youth, energy, and dynamism that Daniela possesses.”

The program also featured a segment dedicated to Los Kipus—the group that launched Eva’s career—along with performances of “Mal paso,” “Señor mentira,” “Hoy,” and “Toro mata.” “Cuando llegue la hora” and “Cariño bonito” transitioned from waltz to salsa, while “Enamorada de estar aquí” was saved for the encore.

Carrying Peru with her

The tour involves back-to-back concerts and long stretches of travel. While Eva acknowledges the fatigue, her enthusiasm for reaching the next stage remains undiminished: “If someone told me I had to add another week to the tour, I’d do it with all the love in the world.”

She also expressed her gratitude for the dedication and care shown by her musicians, noting, “I believe the success of the show depends on that—on all of us moving in the same direction.”

Since October 9, the tour has visited Tampa, Davie, Miami, Houston, Dallas, Phoenix, Anaheim, San Diego, Indianapolis, Chicago, New York, and Newark. It continues on October 31 at Enigma Delaware in Wilmington and will conclude on November 1 at The Howard Theatre in Washington, D.C.

“I am so grateful to God for this miracle; lately, I feel as though every single day is an extra gift,” Eva shared.

The Latin Grammys

On November 12, the winners of the Latin Grammys will be announced in Las Vegas. Eva is nominated for Best Folk Album for "Concierto de Gala (Desde el Gran Teatro Nacional) (Versión Eva) [Live]". The performer, who received the Award for Musical Excellence in 2019, will this time aim to take home an award for her musical production.

In December, it will be the turn of audiences in Lima: Eva will close out the year with two additional performances of “Con guitarra y cajón” (“With Guitar and Cajón”) on Thursday, December 17, and Friday, December 18, at the Bianca Convention Center in Barranco. Tickets are available for purchase via Ticketmaster.
