European Union (EU) Election Observation Mission member Jakub Kumoch toured Editora Peru facilities in order to observe media coverage of Peruvian elections.
The visit included a meeting with Editora Peru Media Director Felix Paz, who provided details of news items covered by El Peruano official gazette and Andina news agency to the EU Election Observation Mission Media Analyst.
Editora Peru is composed of El Peruano newspaper and Andina news agency.
Paz shared details of Mirada Electoral, a program featuring presidential candidates’ activities, statements and proposals.
Likewise, he provided information about Andina Canal Online —Andina news agency's online television platform in which presidential and top Congress candidates were interviewed.
Paz noted that El Peruano has published two-page written interviews granted by presidential candidates. Electoral information has been covered through the newspaper and news agency's social networks.
This was carried out within the framework of transparency and plurality of the electoral process.
Following the gathering, Kumoch toured the editorial department, documentation center and museum. In addition, he was informed of the activities carried out on the occasion of El Peruano's 190th foundation.
