Ecuadorian President arrives at Government Palace to meet with Peruvian counterpart

The President of the Republic, Dina Boluarte, received her counterpart from Ecuador, Guillermo Lasso, at the Government Palace in Lima on Wednesday afternoon.

Mr. Lasso arrived at the Executive Branch headquarters, where he was received with corresponding honors due to his high investiture.

Military House Chief Miguel Juan Garay and Presidential Office Protocol Director Jaime Cacho-Sousa were in charge of welcoming the guest at the Government Palace Honor Courtyard, accompanying him to greet his Peruvian peer.

The Peruvian Head of State was joined by Cabinet members and Prime Minister Alberto Otarola, who also greeted to the visiting dignitary and his delegation.

Mr. Lasso's visit is part of the activities to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Brasilia Peace Accords, signed on October 26, 1998.

Thanks to this agreement, the territorial differences between Peru and Ecuador were settled, putting an end to a long period of conflict.

Following the reception ceremony, both top officials entered the Executive Branch headquarters to hold a bilateral meeting.

Afterwards, both dignitaries will participate in the signing of reversal notes on the extension of validity of the Peru-Ecuador Border Region Binational Development Plan.

Later, they will attend the signing of the regulation for the agreement that establishes the Binational Commission for Integrated Water Resources Management of Transboundary Hydrographic Basins between both countries.

Lastly, President Lasso will be decorated with the Order of the Sun in the Rank of Grand Collar. It will be awarded by his Peruvian counterpart.
