DP World started the construction of a new and modern logistics terminal in Lurin district with an investment of about US$14 million. This will optimize the dispatch and exchange of containers to, from and between this area in Lima and the port of Callao.

“Lurin has become one of most demanded districts for firms to settle in and carry out operations, due to the supply of extensive lands and access roads near the capital city,” DP World General Manager Gerard van den Heuvel said.

This investment is intended to connect the port of Callao with this area in Lima, which will reduce transportation costs. This way "the loss of man-hours when transporting empty containers will be prevented. This will result in a more efficient supply chain."

The terminal will be located near 35th km of the Panamericana Sur Road over an area of 5.4 million hectares, and will have an appointment system that, as well as other port procedures, will be directly managed by Muelle Sur.

The first stone of the project was laid on May 12 and saw the presence of Gerard van den Heuvel, and Lurin Mayor Jose Arakaki Nakamine.

DP World has a portfolio of 77 operating marine and inland terminals supported by over 50 related businesses in 40 countries across six continents with a significant presence in both high-growth and mature markets.

Its operations in Peru started 10 years ago with Muelle Sur in the port of Callao, the most important in Peru.
