The
reaffirmed Peru's historic and sovereign position regarding its 200-mile maritime domain, as established in the 1993 Constitution.
In a statement,
the government agency welcomed President Dina Boluarte's participation in the Third United Nations Ocean Conference (UNOC3), held in France, where she reaffirmed the South American country's international commitment to the sustainable use of maritime resources.
The agreements adopted at the conference will enable the strengthening of security in Peruvian waters, combat illegal fishing, and address other matters of national interest related to the sea.
It is worth remembering that the Head of State was received in France by President Emmanuel Macron, with whom she shared an official dinner.
In addition, President Boluarte led the Peruvian delegation during the event's plenary session.
Among the activities undertaken, the top official signed the High Seas Treaty (BBNJ) with the aim of protecting marine biodiversity and ensuring the sustainable use of resources.
Currently, Mrs. Boluarte continues meeting with international authorities and establishing cooperative ties. The conference is still ongoing.
