Cusco tourist ticket sales to domestic visitors rose 15 percent in July, mainly in National Holidays, compared to the same period last year, reported Cusco’s Committee of Tourist Integrated Services (Cosituc).
Most visitors who arrived to Cusco city for National Holidays were Peruvians, said Cosituc General Manager Orlando Olivera Enriquez.
While a decrease of tourist tickets to foreign visitors was reported.
“According to statistics, we can say that there is a 25 percent decrease of foreign tourists in relation to 2008, but we only talk about our sector,” he added.
Other statistics show that in July a total of 55,542 tickets were sold to domestic and foreign visitors.
“In this season we used to sell over 40,000 tourist tickets for foreign people, that is why we say there is a decrease,” he said.
