China-Peru Food Festival highlights Peruvian cuisine

Peru’s President, Ollanta Humala, inaugurated the Gastronomic Festival “Los Sabores y Colores del Peru” (Peru’s Flavors and Colors) in Beijing on Wednesday.

The event enables Peruvian traditional dishes and desserts to be put on display for potential diners.

“The gastronomy is another of Peru’s strengths. Food unifies us. It is one of mankind’s most ancient elements for socializing,” he expressed.

“Peru provides the best of his cuisine to share it with the whole world,” the Head of State added.

Mr. Humala also highlighted the historical bond between Peru and China, which –in the culinary field- has managed to combine both cultures. 

A dancing group’s young members joined the President during the festival opening, which is organized by the Peruvian Embassy in Beijing.

The event was also attended by Peru’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Gonzalo Gutierrez; Foreign Trade and Tourism Minister, Magali Silva; Transport and Communications Deputy Minister, Henry Zaira; Peru’s Ambassador to China, Juan Carlos Capuñay, among other personalities. 

The festival opens during the Peruvian President’s work visit to China. The trip aims at strengthening bonds between both nations.
