At the 4th Ministerial Meeting of the China-CELAC Forum in Beijing,
presented the Chancay Megaport as a tangible example of cooperation and investment with regional impact, highlighting its consolidation as a logistical, industrial, and technological hub on the South Pacific coast.
The Peruvian government official delivered remarks to representatives from the 33 countries of Latin America and the Caribbean, as well as the People's Republic of China.
The diplomat emphasized that this private investment and public-use initiative not only enhances connectivity with Asia but also fosters the region's productive integration by creating space for industrial zones, shared value chains, and technological innovation.
The ambassador welcomed the consensual adoption of the Beijing Declaration and the China-CELAC Joint Action Plan 2025–2027, which prioritize investment in regional infrastructure, the promotion of international trade, as well as the transfer of science, technology, and innovation.
Within this framework, he reaffirmed Peru's commitment to cooperation focused on clean energy, cultural exchange, as well as more sustainable, resilient, and inclusive development, highlighting the coordinating role of the China-CELAC Forum in building a common agenda.
The minister stressed that the relationship between Peru and China is "historic, solid, and dynamic," framed within a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership that encompasses trade, investment, innovation, and cooperation in addressing global challenges.
He also noted that the China-CELAC Forum strengthens these ties by enabling bi-regional coordination based on mutual respect, pragmatism, and joint action.
The 4th Ministerial Meeting was chaired by
Chinese Foreign Affairs Minister Wang Yi, along with his counterparts from Honduras and Colombia, representing the outgoing and current CELAC presidencies, respectively.
The event featured a keynote address by
President Xi Jinping and reaffirmed the potential of the China-CELAC relationship as a platform for effectively addressing the contemporary challenges facing both regions.
