Chargé d'Affaires at the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Peru Li Yun on Wednesday affirmed that her country is willing to deepen post-pandemic investment and cooperation with Peru.

According to the Chinese official, cooperation can be seen not only in traditional fields such as mining, industry, and oil, but also in new fields such as infrastructure construction and new technologies like 5G and artificial intelligence.

"I am sure this will help Peru's economic recovery and will benefit the population," she said in statements to Andina news agency.

Li emphasized that Peru-China bilateral relations have deepened over the years with political confidence, thus achieving fruitful results in the friendship between the two peoples.

She went on to say that Peru is a reliable friend of China in Latin America and that the Asian Giant seeks to contribute to the economic recovery of the South American nation.

The chargé d'affaires noted that China has been the largest trading partner and main investor in Peru in recent years.

"Last year —before the pandemic— the trend of cooperation between these countries was remarkable, which shows a high complementarity," Li stated.

"We are convinced that China will increase its investment in Peru, based on the principle of mutual respect and shared benefit," she added.

Second batch of vaccines

The Chinese official affirmed that the second batch of COVID-19 vaccine doses from China's Sinopharm laboratory will be shipped from China on February 13 and that they will arrive as scheduled if everything goes as planned.
