Peru's non-traditional exports amounted to US$18.424 billion in 2023, up 1.1 compared to 2022, mainly explained by the increase in the price of farming products (11%), the Central Reserve Bank of Peru (BCR) reported on Thursday.

"Besides, higher export volumes of fishing products (giant squid) stood out in the first half of the year, favored by weather conditions," the BCR stated.

In 2023, the main destination for Peruvian no-traditional exports continued to be the United States, with higher prices of farming products standing out.

The destinations showing the greatest growth were China (greater sales of fishing products) and the rest of Asia (increase in the exported value of farming products), such as Hong Kong.

The products sold abroad that saw the greatest increase in said year were frozen giant squid (37.5%), fresh grapes (28.1%), blueberries (23.6%), calcium phosphates (14.4%), fresh avocados (7.8%) and fresh asparagus (5.5%).
