Canadian fighter Olivia Gerula would be the next challenger of Peruvian boxing world champion Kina Malpartida, who retained her WBA super featherweight title after beating Brazilian Halan Dos Santos on Saturday night.
Kina “Dynamite” Malpartida will have to defend her WBA title (maybe in Peru again) in no less than four months.
According to Malpartida’s manager Gonzalo Larrain, the World Boxing Association (WBA) will choose the next challenger from a list of top ranked boxers in this category.
“It is likely that Kina’s next challenger would be Canadian boxer Gerula Olivia, who is at the top of this list,” he said. According to WBA Rules, this time they will choose the challenger and place for the fight.
Larrain remarked that Lima has everything it takes to host a WBA title fight again as it made a very good impression on the boxing organization’s representatives who arrived in the Peruvian capital to oversee the fight.
On Saturday night at the Coliseo Dibos Dammert, in Lima, Peru, Kina Malpartida did not disappoint local fans when she stopped Halana Dos Santos in the seventh round of a scheduled 10-round bout.
Malpartida was defending her WBA super featherweight title. After the fight she said, "I dedicate this triumph to the very poorest, to those who struggle, to all of Peru and to my father."
