BIC Humboldt returns to Peru after expedition to Antarctica

Peru’s scientific research vessel BIC Humboldt will arrive on Monday, March 25 at Callao Naval Base, after a three-month expedition to Antarctica.
The vessel, which will be arriving at Callao port at 13:45pm, sailed to Antarctica on January 7, 2012 to undertake research and maintenance activities at its Machu Picchu base.

BIC Humboldt consists of four buildings and hosted 62 scientists and maintenance staff from the Peruvian Sea Institute (Imarpe), the Army and a group of universities in Peru.

The welcoming ceremony will be attended by officials from the ministries of Foreign Affairs, Production, Defense, commanding officers of the Navy, Army and Air Force and representatives of scientific institutions and private sector.
