Batch of 163,200 doses of AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine arrives in Peru

The first batch of 163,200 COVID-19 vaccine doses from the AstraZeneca laboratory arrived in Peru on Saturday night, through a bilateral agreement signed by the Ministry of Health (Minsa).

In a post on Twitter, Minsa stated that this first shipment was received by Deputy Public Health Minister Gustavo Rosell and Deputy Head of Mission at the British Embassy in Lima Peter Clements.

"Peru has significant experience in the management and distribution of this vaccine," Rosell said with reference to the AstraZeneca doses, which on previous occasions were delivered through the COVAX Facility.

So far, 25,203,454 doses have been administered in Peru, according to the Ministry of Health.

Out of that total, 15,206,107 were given as first dose and 9,997,347 as second dose.
