There is legal stability for foreign investment in Peru and great possibilities for entrepreneurs in various sectors, mainly mining, said
Maree Ringland, the Australian Ambassador to Peru.
The country enjoys a strategic position in South America to cement its role as a logistics hub, Ms. Ringland stated in an interview with the
Official Gazette El Peruano.
According to the diplomat, Peru represents a great opportunity for Australia, despite the fact that the latter has invested a lot in the South American nation.
"However, we have identified more (investment) possibilities because Peru has what the world needs, namely a lot of copper," she remarked.
The Australian envoy underscored that her country is significantly interested in Peru's irrigation activity and in attracting more students from the Andean nation, noting that Australian universities provide high-quality education, which may be of interest to Peruvian high-achieving students.
On the other hand, Ms. Ringland referred to the entry into force of the FTA between Peru and Australia, and its impact on the commercial exchange.
According to the Australian officer, this agreement provides a good basis for commercial exchange, as it offers many opportunities.
"What happened was that it came into force at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic and we did not have much time to promote it," she explained.
However, the Ambassador underlined that more advantage can be taken of this FTA.
