Peru has proposed priority issues, including human capital investment, SMEs modernization and functional food market development, Peruvian Senior Official to APEC Raul Salazar stated.

Salazar stressed the Andean country intends to achieve greater access to digital means, so they will become an instrument to generate new growth and development opportunities.

Likewise, he said efforts must be articulated to boost small enterprises, since they comprise the bases of the country's entrepreneurial structure.

The high-ranking official went on to add other Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Forum (APEC) economies are also interested in boosting small enterprises, since these represent a great source of jobs.

In addition, he said the functional food market seeks better conditions to facilitate exports of national agricultural products, as well as to eliminate phytosanitary barriers.
