The northern city will thus once again host the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum, repeating its role as host from 2008.
The "Food Security Week" will bring together Agriculture ministers from APEC member economies, who will adopt a set of principles to prevent food loss, enhance food security, and combat anemia at the regional level.
Among the initiatives and projects within the framework of APEC, proposals will be put forward to prevent food loss and waste, including institutional strengthening, fostering investments in technological innovation and education to encourage good agricultural practices.
The ministerial meeting will represent an opportunity for Peru to promote domestic policies that strengthen its capacity to address food insecurity.
It is expected to reach consensus among APEC members with the aim of signing the "Trujillo Principles," thus consolidating commitments and actions to enhance food security, as well as to prevent and reduce food loss and waste across the Asia-Pacific region.
This event has a special significance for the people of Trujillo due to its magnitude and strategic relevance for our nation towards the future, turning La Libertad region into a prominent place in the international arena.
Peru joined APEC in 1998 and this year holds the bloc's Presidency for the third time, thereby consolidating its outreach towards the Asia-Pacific region.
