National Confederation of Private Business Institutions (Confiep) Chairman Alfonso Bustamante said that 2024 might be a very auspicious year, as Peru presides over the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum for the third time.

APEC brings together the world's most important economies, accounts for 62% of global GDP, and is the destination of 67% of total Peruvian exports.

"We preside over APEC with the hope of recovering international prestige, showing our democratic values to the world and attracting the long-awaited private investment that we need to dynamize the economy and create the opportunities for which millions of Peruvians are still waiting," Bustamante underlined.

On the occasion of APEC, more than 160 meetings will be held. They will take place in a decentralized manner and include ministerial meetings on key issues for our country such as trade, energy, food security, tourism, SMEs, among others.

During the APEC Leaders' WeekPeru will host not only the 21 Heads of State and Government from the bloc, but also more than 1,200 business leaders who will meet in our country to participate in the APEC CEO Summit 2024 -the most important business event of the year at the global level.

"Let's make the most of the opportunities that APEC brings us. Let's make APEC 2024 that reason for unity and pride that we were lacking a while ago; (this is) a national crusade, for a better country," the Confiep chairman pointed out.
