Officials from various Peruvian Government entities met in Arequipa with the southern city's institutions to define details linked to the organization of the Finance and Central Bank Deputies Meeting (FCBDM) —one of the most important events of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum Presidency held by Peru this year.

The FCBDM will be held in Arequipa from February 21 to 24, 2024. Besides, it will be the first gathering of the APEC Peru 2024's Finance Ministers Process (FMP).

The FCBDM brings together deputy finance ministers and central banks of the 21 APEC economies. It will be chaired by Deputy Economy Minister Zosimo Juan Pichihua.

"The meeting will be a great opportunity to launch the work plan proposed by Peru, discuss the global economic and financial perspectives and those of the Asia-Pacific region, exchange experiences on the year's priority issues, and present some proposals to make this process more agile, efficient, and beneficial for all APEC member economies," the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) highlighted.

It was also made up of representatives of the Peruvian Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Labor-Employment Promotion, Production, Foreign Trade-Tourism, Women-Vulnerable Populations, and the Commission for the Promotion of Peru for Export and Tourism (PromPeru).

The advance group met a busy agenda that included a gathering with Arequipa Region Vice-Governor Ana Maria Gutierrez, with whom they discussed the decoration and branding of the city for the reception of international delegations.

Representatives of the Peruvian National Police, the Navy, the Air Force, the Army, and the National Civil Defense Institute (Indeci) were also present.

Similarly, the group met with university leaders in Arequipa to coordinate activities throughout this year, within the framework of APEC Peru 2024 and the APEC Ciudadano (APEC for the People) initiative.

21 leading economies

Together, they account for 62% of world's GDP, 48% of global trade in goods and services, plus 38% of the planet's population.
