Actress Elvira Travesi died Wednesday morning in Madrid (Spain), at 89. Travesi was seriously ill and she lived for years in Spain.
The leading theater and film actress, who was known as “first lady of national scene,” suffered a brain hemorrhage in the last months.
Her daughter and also actress, Gloria Maria Ureta Travesi, said months ago that her mother was seriously ill, but despite this she managed to recognized her family.
Elvira Travesi was born in Argentina in 1919, but she was brought to Peru in her early years by her Spanish parents.
In 2003, she was publicly recognized as outstanding artist and important leading actress of Peruvian culture.
In her long career, she starred famous Peruvian film “Maruja en el Infierno” (Maruja in Hell), as well as soap opera “Nino”, among other well-known national productions.
