The general elections of April 11, 2021 will involve a total of 997,033 Peruvian citizens who reside abroad, the
National Office of Electoral Processes (ONPE) reported on Sunday.
According to ONPE Chief Piero Corvetto, the selection of polling station members —conducted on January 29— ensured the participation of 20,580 Peruvian nationals living overseas.
3,440 voting tables will be put into operation at 213 polling stations located in 213 cities around the world.
The countries with the greatest number of electors are the United States (309,602 voters and 1,044 voting tables), followed by Spain (152,212 voters and 514 voting tables), and Argentina (143,189 voters and 480 voting tables).
Additionally, other countries include Chile (143,189 voters and 392 voting tables), Italy (94,590 voters and 321 voting tables), and Japan (34,076 voters and 119 voting tables).
The ONPE stated that the Government of Venezuela has so far not granted the corresponding authorization to open and set up polling stations in its territory, where 19,711 eligible voters live.
As is known, the Council of Ministers approved the payment of S/120 (about US$33) to each polling station member, including Peruvian nationals abroad.
This incentive will be paid so that they can carry out their duties during election day, in both the first and second rounds.
