2019 Pan Am Games may change attitude towards impairment in Peru

20:37 | Lima, Feb. 5.

The Americas Paralympic Committee (APC) President Julie O'Neill Dussliere visited the works carried out at the National Stadium, VIDENA, as well as the Pan American and Parapan American Village.

The visit took place within the framework of the IPC/APC 7th Coordination Committee and Lima 2019 Organizing Committee.

At these sites, the accessibility topic is strongly present with the construction of 336 apartments available to people with some form of impairment.

In this regard, O'Neill referred to the progress in building future venues for the Games, which she could observe during her last visit to Peru.

"Good progress is being made on all the clusters. Much construction is underway, plenty of work, and I think everything is going so well," APC President explained.

"I believe there is a chance Para sports will be further developed in Peru. Lima 2019 has the potential to change the attitude regarding impairment here in Peru and help the National Paralympic Association of Peru (ANPPERU) become stronger, providing more opportunities for national athletes with impairment," O'Neill stressed.
