A total of 120 foreigners residing in the Inca nation have received Peruvian citizenship certificates in the January-April 2017 period, Migrations Superintendent Eduardo Sevilla affirmed.

Thus, the current figure experiences a 30% increase over the one registered in the same period last year.

Likewise, Sevilla hopes to meet the goal of granting a total of 250 certificates by July 2017.

In addition, he underlined said growth is supported by the economic, political and legal stability of the Andean country, which makes it attractive to foreigners.

Furthermore, the Migrations head stated a considerable number of the 120 newly-naturalized citizens had come from Venezuela.

A foreigner may file for Peruvian citizenship in the following cases: having foreign parents (having lived in Peru since age 5), being born abroad to Peruvian parents, marriage to a Peruvian citizen or dual citizenship.
