National Elections Board (JNE) Chairman Roberto Burneo called on citizens to trust the work of the electoral body, stating that a transparent, independent, and professional process is guaranteed.

"The National Elections Board and the entire electoral system have been working hard in preparation for this day; trust that we will carry out a fully professional, independent, and transparent job; moreover, we will guarantee your vote," the electoral body's head noted in a message on X.

Burneo also invited citizens to learn about the candidates and their proposals before heading to the polls.

"We are in the final stretch, one week ahead of April 12, the general election day, so we call on the entire population to stay informed, to visit our Voto Informado (Informed Vote) platform, and to become familiar with all candidates and their proposals," he said.

Regarding the ballot, the JNE head stated that "it is a ballot that, if you do your homework in the days beforehand, will be very easy to fill out and allow you to exercise this right, as well as this responsibility."

Burneo added that the body will deploy an unprecedented team for oversight and media monitoring to ensure electoral fairness.

"The Board has been deploying an unprecedented oversight team, monitoring all developments surrounding these elections through our press and communications team," he indicated.

Finally, Burneo reminded citizens of the legal restrictions that take effect this week, such as the dissemination of poll results and the alcohol sales ban, urging compliance with these measures.

"An informed vote is a fully considered and appropriate vote, so that you can ultimately exercise it freely and quickly," he concluded.

The General Elections will be held on April 12, 2026, with a potential runoff for the presidential race scheduled for June 7 of the same year.

This electoral process will allow citizens to go to the polls to elect the next President of the Republic, Vice Presidents, Senators, Deputies, and Representatives to the Andean Parliament.
