The President of Peru, Jose Jeri, highlighted today the work of municipalities in using artificial intelligence to get better results through security cameras monitoring centers, to combat crime.
The Head of State visited the facilities of the Miraflores municipality's camera monitoring center, where the mayor of that district, Carlos Canales, presented the software that the municipality uses to strengthen the fight against crime.
During the meeting with the mayor, the president emphasized that the nationwide implementation of this technology will strengthen crime prevention efforts and combat crime more effectively, as part of the coordinated efforts between the national government and local governments within the framework of the state of emergency.
The president has been conducting a series of working visits to various police stations and municipal security units in Lima and Callao, with the aim of optimizing operational strategies and strengthening inter-institutional coordination in the fight against crime and organized crime.
In parallel, the president is carrying out unannounced inspections of prisons in the capital and the port city, with the goal of preventing criminal organizations from continuing to operate from within the prisons, a situation that has affected public safety in recent years.
Later, the president visited the National Police's camera monitoring center in the San Borja district to review the video surveillance operation in the capital. The president deemed the modernization of this control center necessary.
President José Jerí affirmed that this Government of Transition and National Reconciliation will maintain a relentless fight against crime and will leave the next government a country on the path to pacification and the restoration of tranquility for Peruvian families.
