As the main activity of her State Visit to the People's Republic of China, Peruvian Head of State Dina Boluarte on Friday held an official meeting with President Xi Jinping. It was aimed at fostering the consolidation of the bilateral relationship in the political-diplomatic, economic-commercial, cultural, and cooperation spheres.

"This State Visit is an invaluable opportunity to strengthen the increasingly important friendship between our countries, embodied in our Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, as well as the substantial and growing economic and cultural exchanges that enrich it," Mrs. Boluarte stated during the event held at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.

In her speech, the Peruvian top official underlined the economic link between both countries.

Similarly, she highlighted China as Peru's top trading partner and an important source of investments in our country.

"China's interest in key sectors of the Peruvian economy, such as mining, infrastructure, and energy, is crucial for national development plans, while ongoing investments serve as a source of employment and a promise of economic progress," Mrs. Boluarte emphasized.

She indicated that this visit is an opportunity to consolidate bilateral relations.

"We hope, Mr. President Xi Jinping, to consolidate and expand our bilateral relations, making the most of your country's interest in the opportunities offered by Peru due to its abundant resources and the entrepreneurial spirit of its people," she underlined.

During this State Visit, the official Peruvian delegation also held a meeting with National People's Congress (NPC) Standing Committee Chairman Zhao Leji and with Chinese Premier Li Qiang.

With both of them, the group had the opportunity to talk about the excellent Peru-China relations, as well as the need to strengthen commercial and friendship ties.
