Peru's ERM 2026: OAS Mission analyzes electoral organization, logistics, and technology

The Organization of American States Electoral Experts Mission (OAS/EOM) analyzed key aspects of the organization and logistics, as well as the technological tools to be used in the 2026 Regional and Municipal Elections (ERM 2026), scheduled for Sunday, October 4.

This information was shared by the OAS on X. 

"The Chief of Mission, Victor Rico, met with OAS specialists in Peru to learn about their initial technical findings on the 2026 Regional and Municipal Elections," the post said.

"The experts' mission is analyzing key aspects such as electoral organization and logistics, electoral technology, and electoral justice," it added.

As is known, the OAS is one of the organizations invited and accredited to participate as an election observer in the subnational electoral process.

The National Elections Board (JNE) recently announced at a press conference that the mission comprises seven specialists.


Meeting

The previous day, the OAS Electoral Experts Mission Chief met with the full board of the National Elections Board (JNE).

During the session, National Elections Board (JNE) Chairman Roberto Burneo and other board members shared information on the progress of this process and the work the institution is carrying out ahead of the elections.

In the coming days, the mission will continue its schedule of meetings with authorities, candidates, and other stakeholders in the electoral process.
