Peru: Presidential candidate Carlos Espa casts vote

Presidential candidate Carlos Espa, representing SiCreo (I Believe Party), cast his vote as part of the 2026 General Elections taking place this Sunday, April 12.

The aspirant voted at the Reina de la Paz Parochial School in Lima's San Isidro district.

Espa is one of 35 presidential contenders participating in the nationwide election.

His running mates are Alejandro Santa Maria and Melitza Yanzich Villagarcia, candidates for first and second vice president, respectively.

The SiCreo candidate arrived at his polling place at 11:00 a.m., where he exercised his right to vote without any issues.

According to the voter registry of the National Registry of Identification and Civil Status (Reniec), more than 27 million Peruvians are eligible to vote at 92,766 polling tables nationwide, in a process that marks the return to a bicameral Congress.

In this election, voters will choose the President, vice presidents, members of the bicameral Congress (Senate and Chamber of Deputies), and representatives to the Andean Parliament.

The voting day began at 7:00 a.m. across the country and will continue until 6:00 p.m., during which citizens may go to the polls to choose new national authorities.
