At the event, the Head of State reaffirmed her willingness to seriously address the institution's recommendations and maintain a respectful relationship with it.
"I reaffirm our willingness to seriously address the Ombudsman's recommendations and maintain a respectful, transparent and constructive relationship," Fujimori stated in her speech.
During her remarks, the top official highlighted the role the institution fulfills in representing citizens.
Likewise, she stated that it "fulfills an indispensable mission."
In this regard, the President said the Government should not view the Ombudsman's Office "as an inconvenient institution or an adversary," but rather "as an ally in identifying shortcomings, correcting procedures, and improving relations between the State and citizens."
Therefore, Fujimori noted that an autonomous, firm and close-to-the-people Ombudsman's Office is needed as part of the relationship between the Peruvian State and citizens.
Moreover, the Head of State extended her greetings to the institution on its 30th anniversary and to the people who have worked there.
