In talks with the U.S. ambassador, the Peruvian government official highlighted that bilateral ties are at a particularly important juncture, following the recent bicentennial marking diplomatic relations between both nations.
During the meeting, they agreed to expand joint work in security and defense, as well as on the need to continue efforts against transnational organized crime and drug trafficking, and to advance the Shield of the Americas initiative.
The importance of strengthening joint cooperation in responding to El Niño phenomenon was discussed, as was cooperation in education, particularly scholarships for young students in Science and Technology.

Likewise, the Peruvian Foreign Affairs Minister received a protocol visit from Chinese Ambassador Song Yang.
During the meeting, they addressed President Keiko Fujimori's particular interest in participating in the 2026 APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting, to be held in Shenzhen, China, on November 18 and 19.
The ambassador reiterated the Chinese Government's willingness to support Peru in preventing, responding to, and recovering from a possible El Niño phenomenon.
The common principles guiding both countries' foreign policy were highlighted, including the One-China principle, mutual respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity, equality and mutual benefit, peaceful coexistence, and non-interference in the internal affairs of other countries.
